Job Description:
The department of Social Science at Valley City State University is seeking a full time, tenure-track faculty member to join the team.

The primary responsibility of this position is to teach courses in political science, geography, and/or related social science coursework as needed to support composite Social Studies and History majors, a Political Science minor, and general education courses. All members of the department participate in academic advising and recruitment activities. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain/update course and program curricular content, participate in department assessment, contribute to campus committees, and perform other duties as needed.

Compensation:
The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications, and typically ranges from $41,000 to $45,000 annually. The university is located in the southeastern part of the state in the city from which the institution takes its name. Valley City has a population of approximately 6,500 and is located 60 miles west of Fargo on Interstate 94, making the campus easily accessible both from the east and west. The location of the community lends itself to cultural and recreational activities, and the newly constructed Gaukler Wellness Center offers a variety of services to members.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned Master's degree in Political Science or Geography (with a minimum of 18 transcripted graduate credits in the field)
• Ability to work with others in a collegial and collaborative manner
• Campus presence to teach face to face classes on the VCSU campus
Preferred Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in Political Science or Geography
• 18 transcripted graduate credits in a related field (the alternative of the above fields, economics, or criminal justice)
• Prior teaching experience in higher education
• Demonstrated proficiency with the use of technology in the classroom and experience teaching in the online format using a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Blackboard or Moodle
• Experience in academic advising of students
• Experience with student recruitment efforts
