Summary of Work
Are you ready to lead the most progressive cyber security organization in government today? The State of North Dakota leads the nation with comprehensive Cyber Security education for every student, in every classroom, Kindergarten through PHD. Additionally, we are the only state in the nation with a strategic cyber security model that covers the Executive branch, Legislative branch, Judicial branch, Higher Education, K-12, cities, and counties. North Dakota sets the bar nationally and is looking for a Chief Information Security Officer that will continue to push that bar higher.
North Dakota faces significant threats due to our position as a leading energy (#2 in the country) and agriculture producer, critical infrastructure including the financial and health sectors and leading role in the UAS industry. Our network supports 250,000 users daily—the equivalent of a Fortune 30 company. In an era of increasingly dangerous online threats, protecting our citizens’ information, our state’s systems and our critical infrastructure is paramount. We are pursuing a “One State, One Security,” strategy based on a foundation of a whole-of-government, singular approach to cybersecurity as we push to create a World Class technology organization.
The successful incumbent will serve as a member of the executive management team for the new IT Shared Service, and report directly to the CIO.
